First blog task


1) Why did you choose AS Media Studies?
i picked a level media because i enjoy studying films and understanding the codes shown through films and its will also help me with my business when i want to market online and through media i can do that without a doubt.  

2) Did you take GCSE Media Studies (either here at Greenford or a different school)?
In all honesty i took media at GCSE as it was a easy subject an also because it sounded like fun subject from the insight i got from friends who studied media before i did. 

3) If you answered yes to Q2, what grade did you achieve in GCSE Media? What coursework tasks did you complete? What would you say your strengths and weaknesses were in GCSE Media? i manged to attain a grade B at GCSE and that mainly down to my coursework as i managed to complete all of it before deadline. However, when it came to the exam my weakness was down to my lack of understanding of the key concepts. 

4) What grade do you hope to achieve in A Level Media? i hope to achieve a B in A level.  

5) What are your current thoughts about your next steps after A Levels - university, apprenticeship, work? Have not fully made my mind up i keep changing. well I have found part time work and it is helping create my curriculum vitae. To gain more experience when i go into the real world. 

6) What do you think the biggest media story of 2016 has been and why? The marina joyce publicity stunt an her fans thought she was being kidnapped by isis. 

7) What media sources do you use to find out about news and current affairs? instagram,snapchat and the newspaper.

8) What was the last film you watched? hancock

9) What is your favourite ever TV series? the Simpson 

10) How many hours do you spend online in an average day? Is this too little, too much or about right? Why? i think all day long roughly 7 to 8 hours

  1. I am glad you have high aspirations but a B at A Level is incredibly difficult if you do not put in about an hour's worth of work out of school for every hour that you do in school. Tip - Read the Media terminology hand out and revision guide and try to use the terms as accurately as you can in your work. Try and engage with media as regularly as you can, through Twitter and reading the Guardian newspaper website.
