3) What is the difference between character representation in action movies and disaster movies? From the example from the text of the film it is the fact that in action genre they isolat the hero from the other people however in contrast the disaster movie usually the hero has the heroic goal within the group of people.

 • Period or Country, e.g. US films of the 1930s
• Director / Star, e.g. Ben Stiller Films
• Technical Process, e.g. Animation

6) List three ways genre is used by institutions or producers. There are a number of different way for the audience to understand the concept of the genre and these can be seen for the prior knowledge of the text which will help them enjoy the genre and text. Secondly they will be able to compare the genre from others which have a contrast to get the overall answer if what genre the tv show/film genre it is.

7) What film genre is used as an example of how genres evolve? What films and conventions are mentioned?
As the genres rely on the audience they become the norm for the audience to predicted therefore they will need to change it up to make different to other genres. therefore overtime the genres have changed for the audience to prevent the genre becoming uninterested this mainly occurred for the gangster genres such as the scar face and the Sopranos text the main code for a gangster was to have a Tommy gun which was a main key for the audience to know its a Gangster themed film. Read Media Factsheet 126 - Superheroes: A Genre Case Study and answer the following questions:

1) List five films the factsheet discusses with regards to the Superhero genre. 5 films the fact sheet mentions; spider man, superman , Daredevil , super , batman.

2) What examples are provided of how the Superhero genre has reflected the changing values, ideologies and world events of the last 70 years? Over time the genre and context changes of the superhero and the narrative of the whole story line and this is because the superhero has to fit into the era of the audience who are the modern society and an example of this can be from how Face changes for the batman character. Also the main narrative consists have a enemy for the hero to defeat.

3) How can Schatz's theory of genre cycles be applied to the Superhero genre?
This theory has been strongly used for the batman character as shown on as and example within the media fact sheet the innovation such as the bright yellow logo of the super hero changing to a more black sleek to go with the new costume of the hero altogether but also with time as that in my opinion made batman seem more childish however now in this day of era it is seemed more different. This is because bat man was seen to be a more of spoof of the hero when the tv series was made therefore in year ago it was more different to now  therefore it was more classical to its conventions and time it was set in contrast to this now we see amore of a dominate prestige batman who is more respected and not a spoof overall. Therefore it was like a pardoy however we still see the same conventions being used in the more dated films with batman's gadgets and technology that uses when defeating the villains.
General
1) Why did you choose the text you are analysing?

i shall be analyzing the film Dead Pool.
2) In what context did you encounter it?
I first witnessed the film from a billboard that used emoji's from the iphone keyboard.

3) What influence do you think this context might have had on your interpretation of the text?
I think that it had a massive impact and that in my opinion is because of the use of the emoji's therefore that had a big impact on me in particular. This is because of the use of the emoji's to make out the name "dead pool" which help gave it a very direct appeal this marketing idea made it very profitable at box office.   4) To what genre did you initially assign the text? I firstly thought it was a Action superhero film but I was
supersized with the amount of sub genres i the film.

5) What is your experience of this genre? In the film there was actually a large amount of comedy and humour which seemed like the norm but for the contrast of genre i found it odd and that is because super-hero films are more of a serious film such as Fantastic-Four very serious film that has humour but i still very serious. Finally, there was also a lot of Romantic love scene.

6) What subject matter and basic themes is the text concerned with? My main concern was with the use of so much immature adult humour. Furthermore, Deadpool is not even a hero in any shape off form and this is right from the beginning.

7) How typical of the genre is this text in terms of content? i found this piece to be very funny and because it made me laugh every time i saw the use of comedy.

8) What expectations do you have about texts in this genre? From my first witness like the Trailer I knew it was going to be a very funny and inappropriate with the use of the trailer text which was also a action and this was my main expectations for the film.

9) Have you found any formal generic labels for this particular text (where)? before the film was made the Dead pool franchise was even established to be produced as a film they had a comic version which was a former creation by Stan Lee.
10) What generic labels have others given the same text? Even though the comic was the to the main inspiration for the film overall it has been tailor to the modern society of today to target the audience it is aiming for.

11) Which conventions of the genre do you recognise in the text? The film Dead Pool has got a very extreme adult humour to it which makes it a very unique film to the super hero genre and also with his use of trash talk and not much of a hero it has made the genre for the film which has created a very over unusual genre.

12) To what extent does this text stretch the conventions of its genre? This text in particular has been take to such and extent that the main age rating was a PG-13 but was refused as this is not really acceptable for a 13 year old to be watching with such violence. Therefore they had to refuse because of the use of the convention being abused in all honesty however this made it a very different. This is also may explain why it is so immature through out with dead pools "trash talk".

13) Where and why does the text depart from the conventions of the genre? It has been conveyed for a more older audience who are into the teen comedy that has been subverted over the years and changed to different departments and for different genres and dead pool in particular is very subverted from the super hero genre as it is more comedy related and less iconic for the hero type.

14) Which conventions seem more like those of a different genre (and which genre(s))? As this is more teen based it is more streamlined to the teenagers that will find teen comedy more humours from what the character does therefore this film in particular is different.

15) What familiar motifs or images are used? The colour scheme of his costume being red and black helps communicate to the audience that it is dead pool furthermore the costume also goes in with the genre therefore they have a represented the genre effectively.

Mode of address
1) What sort of audience did you feel that the text was aimed at (and how typical was this of the genre)? The fact of such level of immaturity means that DeadPool will mainly appeal to a upper teenager audience.
2) How does the text address you? in my opinion a middle aged white america who has lost his true love and need to win it back by getting his looks back.
3) What sort of person does it assume you are? A collage student still in education that finds teen humor and stupidity to be comedy. But may have a part time job and planning to not go uni from what type of film it is.
4) What assumptions seem to be made about your class, age, gender and ethnicity? It has assumed that I am white 25 year old middle class white male and is single that needs to find true love but is still looking and in the venture watching romance and giving until this young male finds his true love.
5) What interests does it assume you have? Watching football, socializing a lot on Twitter and Facebook and also meeting up with friend to go and convey and catch up at the local pub.
Relationship to other texts
1) What intertextual references are there in the text you are analysing (and to what other texts)?
2) Generically, which other texts does the text you are analysing resemble most closely? i think that it has a close link to the film "kick Ass" as they have very close link to the teen age humor with the high school super hero.
3) What key features are shared by these texts? the fact they have such high violence but have created it to be a comedy and for the audience to feel any pain or sympathy for the character.

4) What major differences do you notice between them? The main hero for Dead Pool is basically immortal and the hero from the movie in contrast to dead pool has a character that has no real powers.
